No guidelines yet for media reporting

The highest court of India has refused to lay down guidelines for media reporting of court proceedings. the court has come up with a neutralizing device by which an aggrieved  party may as a preventive measure present writ in appropriate court for delayed publication of an ongoing case.

Negatives

1. By this court will be burdened by writ petition for postponement of publication
2. Reporting on High profile cases may be postponed, which would deny the public the right to know

Positives:

1. it’s a Case by case decision so there is chance that some fitting case may be granted protection which otherwise will not be possible under the present system
2. It’s just a preventive measure.
